Tremendous chances of development

From your point of view, what differentiates odelo from other employers?

For me there are several factors. On the one hand we have team spirit, fun in the team and inside the departments. This is a big part of it. At the same time the possibility to discuss with other departments and to develop through criticism – there are situations in which it can be a bit heated. In addition to that you as an employee have tremendous chances to develop. When I look back on my early years and how much I have learned every single day so far, I keep being amazed by it. As a student you think about the mass of information you have at that point of time, but my personal learning curve is steadily increasing (laughter). And the best thing about this learning curve: you can see it driving by on the street every day. The result is not only a number or a theory, no, it is light technology you can hold in your hands.

What is one of your typical tasks at odelo?

I am light technician and I design optical surfaces in order to display them. I always say I am integrating aesthetics into technology. I love the necessity to be creative and that why my job is challenging. It is not only copy-paste, it is innovation, I have the possibility to create something new and to think about new solutions. This is what I really enjoy about it.

Which advice would you give to a new employee on his/her first day at work?

I would tell him/her that he/she is always supposed to keep smiling and never lose their cool. Nobody knows everything, the secret is to go along with new things and to never lose the optimism.

What interests do you have outside of work?

Actually, our department meets up privately every now and then and I really appreciate that. After moving from Berlin to Stuttgart I really struggled to get used to the smaller city Stuttgart. But within my team I felt home from the very first second. In addition to that I am a very active person and I love to go climbing, bouldering and swimming. In the winter time I glide down the ski slopes. Also, I really love to travel the world, all of its special wonders seem really amazing to me.

What else would you like to see/experience in your life?

I was born in Iran and I am really impressed by the country, so I have travelled there many times. What I really want to do in my life is to climb up the highest mountain of Iran, the Demavand which is about 6000m above sea level. The mountain has been particularly attractive to me for a long time.
