Always one step ahead

From your point of view, what differentiates odelo from other employers?

Here at odelo even young employees have great chances to develop because a high level of trust is placed in you. This is especially true concerning the fast undertaking of tasks and thereby the chance to prove oneself. Also, the structure allows the company to not only get an insight into one department, but also into many different departments, which helps to get a better understanding of the procedures.

What is one of your typical tasks at odelo?

I am responsible for at least one customer project, where it is my task to confer with the customer and to evaluate the feasibility of its design. On top of that it is my responsibility to check on the construction of the tools and the manufacturability. What I really like about it is the cooperation inside the team, because that is the point where light technology and electronic engineering comes together to solve problems. To bring things together is really fun. At the same time, it is really great because I work with many different personalities and I get around a lot.

Which advice would you give to a new employee on his/her first day at work?

I would tell him/her to be open-minded for new things and to absorb everything as much as possible. Especially one thing: Always ask if you do not understand something entirely. Whereas I have been working here for a number of years now it is always possible that there are some minor details that I do not understand. When I reach that point I normally ask. I consistently get positive reactions by asking. Everyone here knows how it is to not understand something and everyone is always happy to help.

What are you especially proud of in your life?

I guess many people say “my children” but unfortunately I have to pass on that. That is the reason why I would say my studies – to learn things by heart has never been my strength. In addition, I am very proud to have my first construction project after three years at odelo.

What interests do you have outside of work?

I really like to exercise. I really like to go for a run or work out at the gym and every now and then I like to go cycling. To exercise and to move simply does me good. Also, I like meeting up with my friends in the evenings or going to the cinema.

How do friends describe you?/ How would colleagues describe you?

That’s hard to answer… I would say it always depends on the colleague.
