Winners of this year's Automotive Lean Production Awards have been announced. odelo Slovenija d.o.o., a subsidiary of odelo GmbH, has received the prestigious award in the category "International SME". This year's winners are, amongst others, also plants of VW, Seat und Fiat.
"Learn from the best!" - this is the goal of the "Automotive Lean Production" study carried out by the magazine AUTOMOBIL PRODUKTION in cooperation with the business consultancy Agamus Consult from Munich. Since 2006, production plants of the automotive industry have been analyzed by a neutral benchmark study in order to find out why the best plants are more innovative and flexible than others. The best European plants are awarded with the Automotive Lean Production Award available in six categories.
Ever since the company was founded in 2005, lean culture has been an inherent part of the plant philosophy of odelo Slovenija d.o.o.. The introduction of various Lean Methods right from the beginning as well as a consistent and successful application of Lean Manufacturing principles and the pursuit of a clear roadmap through an ongoing auditing of target achievements have paved the way for the award in the category "International SME". According to managing director and CEO of the odelo Group, Klaus Holeczek, the plant's motivated employees, a culture open to mistakes and innovation, flexibility and full support of the plant management are just as important as the lean alignment of the plant's processes. The importance of lean thinking in the plant has also been underlined by the establishing of an internal lean promotion team. This team is responsible for the continuous monitoring of all processes in the plant and their further development in terms of the "Lean Spirit".
PhD Werner Geiger, managing director of Agamus Consult: "odelo Slovenia has shown the successful introduction and implementation of Lean methods in an exemplary manner: smart modules of a Lean Roadmap, high commitment at all management levels and finally, stamina - those are the most important reasons for a successful transformation. Due to their continuous participation in our initiative, we have been able to accompany the way of the Prebold plant during the last years and acknowledge its development. All participants deserve our highest recognition".
Important for the success of the Slovene plant has also been the product and process development in Germany. High expertise of the employees and a good cooperation between Slovenia and Germany have ensured the high degree of maturity of projects being launched at the plant. „The team from Germany has contributed to the success of odelo Slovenija as well", emphasizes Klaus Holeczek.
On 23rd October 2013 the winners of this year's study will be awarded during the Automotive Lean Production Congress, taking place at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg.
