17th March 2016
The 6. Conference "World Class Manufacturing", which was held in March in Ljubljana focused again on the optimization of production and logistics processes, implementation of lean production methods, supply chain and other processes in companies. This time, however, with an emphasis on the opportunities offered by digitization and the industry 4.0.
Topical themes, the possibility of exchanging experiences and networking opportunities attracted next to Slovenian participants also a number of participants from abroad. Visitors from Italy, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Turkey participated in the event. The conference was organized by odelo Slovenija and partners.
Industry 4.0 is a new era in industrial production, with the entry of the "Internet of Things" into the production facilities. Part of this process is the digitization of the industry, enabling companies to integrate the entire value chain in real time. The selection of available technical and organizational solutions today is very diverse. Innovative concepts and solutions are being used by more and more companies from various industries.
Within the conference various companies like Bosch, GKN, International TPM Institute, Gorenje and odelo presented their experiences with the introduction of digitalisation. Exemplary manufacturing practices could be seen at the visits of the factories Akrapovič and Gorenje. Despite the many solutions offered by modern technology, people are still essential in all processes. And in the future they'll have to face new challenges in the field of knowledge, skills and mind set.
